College Avenue Redevelopment Project
Rutgers Hillel is very proud to be part of the $330M College Avenue Redevelopment Initiative which is transforming our campus for the 21st century.
The College Avenue Redevelopment Initiative is a partnership led by the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO), in partnership with Rutgers University, the New Brunswick Theological Seminary and Rutgers Hillel. This visionary project is redefining approximately 10 acres of the University’s historic College Avenue Campus, creating 200,000 SF of academic space; a new Residential Honors College for up to 500 honors students; a 500-bed apartment-style building for students, with a 25,000 SF urban park, 600 SF outdoor LED video screen, new walkways, and bike paths; and a brand new facility and campus for the historic New Brunswick Theological Seminary.
The new Rutgers Hillel will be at the epicenter of all this development.
Independently constructed and funded entirely by private donations, the new Eva and Arie Halpern Hillel House will sit at the intersection of College Avenue and Seminary Place, kitty-corner from the new Seminary, university academic center and Honors College, one block down College Avenue from the new student apartment building. Thousands of students and other pedestrians will encounter Hillel every day.
